OPENING LOCKED DOORS - 11/13/06
Well, it's been some time since I've had to edit our home.php file, heh. As it stands, all media is basically compromised. When the mod was still going, our team lacked dedication... unorganization mixed with a little lack of interest resulted in the mod's eventual downfall. But I, and still here :)

With some recent feedback from old fans, I've decided to boot up the website, and possibly start looking into recruiting a new team. If I can indeed recruit a new team, the mod will continue... we would keep the same England style modification, and most of the ideas that we originally had would be kept the same. Comments, suggestions, and team applications can be sent to Job_314[at]ts[dot]hlgaming[dot]com.

Thank you,
-Job

SOME BAD NEWS - 1/29/06
Hey everyone, I'm here to share some of the bad news with those who aren't familiar with some things that have recently happened here at TS. Don't worry, we're not shutting down, but it's rather dissapointing.

Awhile back, one of our modellers (Headshot), retired from the mod. Saying we would still be able to use all the models he had modelled... no problem there. Now that the Glock model has officially been released by him on CDG without my permission, I am debating what the next step to take is. The model will not be used in the mod, so there will be no point in giving him credit for something that won't be used.

So I guess this qualifies as a leak in media. Which is what I was fearing most. If anyone is interested in seeing what it would have looked like in the mod, take a look at the screenshot below. That is Headshot's Glock 18C model, on Ignited's skin. That's the only screenshot you'll see of it here.

Sorry for not making things clear Zexun... but mod work, is mod work. Period.

In other news, the forum has been updated to phpBB 2.0.19 with various security fixes and small bug changes, drop by when you get the chance.

MEDIA & UPDATES - 1/15/06
Let me start off by wishing everyone a happy new year, even though it may be a tad bit belated, but happy new year nonetheless!

We've been going through some changes over here at TS. With team members coming and leaving, things can get kind of crazy. Anyway, I bring nothing but good news with this update. I have two new player model renders and some new map screenshots from out latest mapper, Asherak.

There is also another skinner application over in the forums, who looks to be quite promising. I suggest everyone should take a look if you're interested in seeing his skill. Who know, he might be part of the team very soon!

3 NEW PLAYER MODELS - 12/22/05
Hey everybody, due to some inactivity with the models lately, I've taken the liberty of recruiting some new members onto the team. I've recruited one new modeler, and there might be one more on the way. Regardless, we've welcomed our newest modeler; René "Resin" Sinnbeck. He will be our new lead player modeler. Right now he is working on creating the new survivor model. Lt.Hinkle attempted an infected model some time back, but suggested that it be remodeled by someone that would do a better job. Well have no fear Hinkle, because it will be. I've set a deadline on the survivor model for this Sunday night. Once the survivor model gets finished, there will be another model completed. Though it won't be an infected model, it will be another survivor model. I won't give too much away yet, but I think you'll all like it. But expect 2 survivor models and 1 more infected model to begin to surface soon.

In the meantime, we'll be lying off the weapons. We've already got quite a few of them modeled. Now I'll be focusing on figuring out how the gameplay will work, as we've ran into some issues that need to be worked around. So wait it out, new media will be here soon!

PS. If you're interested in a position on the mod, drop by and give me an e-mail. We're now accepting skinners, coders, and mappers.

POST BOX UV'ED - 12/20/05
I've decided to show off a little more media on the mod. Not much has been shown recently. So I've decided to post this. This is the render of the post box UV'ed and non-UV'ed. The skin is actually done, but I've accidentally deleted the rendered version of it. Once I can get a hold of Ignited and get an updated version, I'll post that... but until then, here's this:

After this, I'll work on getting the MP5 up for display, skinned and all.

EDGENETWORK MAINTENANCE - 12/18/05
I just want to give everyone a head's up on what's going on with some maintenance that will be taking place. So, if you try to visit the site and it's not available... it's do the the changes that will be taking place. I'm currently unaware of these changes as of now, but they will not be affecting us in any way aside from the down time. The downtime will occur Monday the 19th at 1:00 AM CST. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The maintenance should NOT take more than an hour, but allow up to 4 hours just in case.

ZEXUN WALKS - RECRUITING NOW - 12/16/05
For those that don't know yet, Zexun Tan, or more commonly known around here as Headshot the modeller has left the team. This occured actually some time back, and just hasn't been anounced until this time. With his leave, a gap will be with all of us. We're sorry to see you leave, but you're position will be of course filled soon enough!

So, with the removal of some of the inactive members on the team, we are now openly recruiting in the following catagories:

Modelling, mapping, skinning, and coding.

We lack a good amount of skinners and coders at the moment. We've got a large deal of maps as is... but I'd still like to improve the team. The more people we have working on something, the faster we can get it done. So if you're interested, drop me an e-mail sometime and let me know that you're interested and what position you'd like to apply for. I'll do my best to try and get you started on something if you can be of use.

I want to wish everyone a good holiday this year, I hope it's a good one! Take care.

MOD OF THE YEAR? - 12/4/05
Hi there everyone, long time no talk! I'm here to fill you in on some of the details for what's been going on recently with the mod...

I've been talking with Josh, the wonderful admin over at HLGamer, and it appears our domain name is still not ready. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to say screw it and order it all myself, but that's the last resort. So hang in there when it comes to the domain name, I'm sure it will be here soon enough and we'll all be enjoying it!

As for the mod itself, we're doing quite fine. We're working on getting things skinned at the moment. Props, weapons, etc. Ignited is a fantastic skinner and I'll soon be able to show off some of his work. I'll be displaying the MP5 and a couple of map props. In the mean time, I'll ask you for a little favour (If you don't mind).

For the uninformed, Mod DB (Mod Database) is hosting a little compition for the "Mod of the year" award for 2005. For those people out there that support the mod and want to help out, please drop by and give us a vote! Just click this link and at you'll be able to vote at the top of the page.

Thanks for the support everyone, I've gotten a lot of positive comments so far, wish us luck and PLEASE vote!

FORUM'S BACK ONLINE - 11/26/05
Okay everyone, for those that have tried to access the forums in the past couple days and found a cirtical error message... I want to let you know that it's fixed and the forums are back online.

We had some serious errors with the database, and the entire forum was nuked and was replaced with an entirely new install. I'm restoring the database to an earlier state right now, but I cannot say how much data was lost!

Sorry, and enjoy the new forums!

GLOCK DONE - WELCOME IGNITED! - 10/28/05
Well, I'd like you all to welcome Ignited to the team, he's the team's latest skinner. With his introduction, comes his very first skin for the mod... the Glock 18, which can be seen below:

As you can see, there's tile and a more formal look to the render. This will be the new style for all the skinned renders. It was the best style of the available, and the team seemed to like it the most. I hope you do too.

I've been doing some overall upgrades here and there around the site, if you haven't noticed, the team, about, and media pages have been all updated... and even a new page has appeared; the 'press' page. There, all the interviews/reviews and all the press related things will be posted for you all to check out. So stop by and take a look from time to time.

Before I take off again, I'd like to mention the new domain. Yes, you heard right! The Survivors will soon have a domain name. We will still be hosted by HLGaming, but we'll just be available at a new URL. Thank Josh Hubi, the admin over at HLGamer for giving a hand and buying that for us. Thanks Josh, cheers to you buddy!

Stay tuned, more to come!

MP5 DONE - MEDIA PAGE UPGRADES - 10/28/05
Well, the media page is taking more time than expected. We're still deciding on what background and setting we'll be going with. Once that is done... we'll still need to re-render everything and get that all working. But hey, I do have some good news for the MP5 lovers out there :)

This is the latest weapon that will be going into the game. I'd also like to say that everyone should welcome Ignited to the mod staff. He's the latest skinner, and will be working to make this mod that much better. I hope to be able to show off some skinned renders soon.

Sorry for the short post, I'm a bit rushed. More to come later on.

MEDIA PAGE UPGRADE - 10/17/05
Before I say anything... no there's no new media, haha. This just regards some visual upgrades that will be happeing sometime in the short future.

I have removed all the beta previews of the weapons, in the beginning they were there to show what we had so far... and they just never got replaced by the newer one. So... I didn't see them as needed. From this point on there will just be one render of a model, unless we see fit that it needs two, for whatever reason.

The team and I, are currently dicussing new render ideas, and will be using the same backgound for all of our renders. This way, they will all look the same, just with different models and so on. Because things as is, are a bit hectic and chaotic. So, we've decided to clean things up a bit. It should look a bit better.

We don't know at the moment what we're going to use, as there are many ideas being thrown around. But expect a change sometime in the near future.

VAKSA'S "VALVE WORLD ICON SET" ADDON - 10/10/05
Vaksa has added more icons to his famouse Valve World icon pack. This time, He as added The Survivors to his wonderful little package. These are fantastic little hight quality icons, and I'd gladly reccomend them to anyone who's looking for something a little nicer than the stock 3rd party icons. So, go download them!

The package includes 25 new icons; 3 icons for main games and mods, 20 icons for third party mods 3 extras (include tray icons) and Steam skin. Click here to check it out!

Thanks Vaksa!

DEVELOPER JOURNALS ONLINE - 10/7/05
So here's the deal. I've created these forums to help the public out with getting another hand on knowing what's going on. There, only the developer team can post topics, though registered members can still comment and so on. The point of this section was to let the developer team create their own daily posts (if they wish) and let the public know where they are... and what they are currently doing for the mod.

You can check the journals out by clicking here.

FLORRY'S DEBUT - 9/30/05
I have some great news... awhile back I was contacted from someone who was interested in skinning for the mod. He had heard about the mod through HL2Files.com. Well, I talked to him to see if he wouldn't mind doing a test skin. Just to see what he could do. Well, I just got hold of that test skin, and my my... it's gorgeous. Being as media-friendly as I am, I figured you'd probably want to take a look at this little beauty:

This skin is of course 1024*1024 in it's full size, and is almost done. But due to UV map complications, it may need to be edited. Just figured you all might be interested in this!

RIOT SHOTGUN - 9/19/05
Here's a little something for all the shotgun lovers out there. This will be the first shotgun that goes in the game. It's coming along very nicely, but it's still a WIP and needs a lot of work. Just checking in and letting you all know what we're working on.

PROMOTIONAL VIDEO - 9/12/05
Alright everyone... just got done editing this video, and now I've got it the way I want it. It's nothing all that "official", just a little something I made within the past hour. Download it, watch it, and leave some comments on it here.

Download Promo Video 01 Now! WARNING: Video contains language!

SURVIVOR CONCEPT - 9/7/05
Awhile back I was taking a look at some of the survivor concepts, and I didn't think I liked any of them enough to use one as the first player model. Not because they were bad, but I didn't think they were the kind to start off with. Thus, I contacted Aaron, and let him know what I had in mind. He'd said he'd work on it.

Well, I got an e-mail from him the day before yesterday saying he's working on it and should have to me on the 6th. Well, I'm loving the result a lot more than the other survivor concepts. See, I'm aiming for the mod to handle civilians trying to survive. Not ex-military commandos will an all-out arsenal of weapons... I hope everyone likes this as much as I did.

This will be the first survivor model, though I cannot promise that the gloves will stay. But who knows.

MODDB's HL2 TOP 100 - 9/6/05
Just a small update to inform you all I've just added us to MODDB's HL2 Top 100 list, please head over and vote for us! ...Link!

WHERE THE HECK ARE WE? - 9/1/05
Not much at the moment is still being created, as far as the weapons and so on go. We're now focusing on getting things in-game, and getting the code working. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this already, but the mod is currently playable. RedG3, our fantastic coder, has already sent over the client and server binaries. The mod at this stage is still very buggy, and a lot needs to be done... but it is playable. I'll contact him in the near future regarding the next release of code. But rest assured, it's being worked on, and soon enough we'll have a playable build for the public.

But since most of our fans are fueled by media, I'll let you all know that I have a few people interested in joining the mod team. These people include 1 skinner, and 2 mappers. So, if they are accepted onto the team, they will bring some new stuff to the media page. While I'm on the subject of media, Aaron Panagos, our concept artist is working on the survivors concepts, so once those are done, Hinkle can get them all modelled out and place them in-game. Right now we're using the Couner-Strike terrorist models as the survivors.

So hang in there, I should be getting something soon to show off. Until then, keep up the support! drop by the forums!

VAKSA'S ICONS - 8/19/05
I'm sure some of you out there know who he is. Vaksa's the creator of the new "Valve World" icon pack that's been floating around. I stumbled upon his post on another HL˛ related forum. Jokingly, I said "Thanks for making one for my mod". Well, the guy was nice enough to make us some icons for the mod... and I'll tell you, they're nothing short of spectacular. Take a look for yourself:

Icon 01Icon 02Icon 03Icon 04

When it comes back to the actual mode itself, Lt.Hinkle is working on tweaking the infected model some more. Expect a short video clip to be posted soon. It will be showing off some of the model's animations.

INFECTED MODEL: COMPLETE - 8/9/05
After working the model over again and fixing some small bugs... it's finally complete. We've edited the ankles, pant legs, shoes, and some other small errors in the face. I hope this model is everything that you all were hoping for. More models will be coming later on, but for the time being, we'll be sticking with one model for each team:

Skinners, we do need them. We can model all we want and get them all done, but we still won't be able to release the mod without skins. I'm really becoming a bit buggered that we haven't gotten one thus far. So, if you know someone who can skin, or want to help yourself, please do what you can. We really, really need the help when it comes to the textures and so on.

I'd also like to let you know we've opened up our own IRC channel for the mod on GameSurge, like our QuakeNet! sever, it is #TheSurvivors aswell. I hope to be talking with some of you in the server very soon. Feel free to drop by and share your oppinions/ideas for the mod.

Thanks Again!

CHANGING SOME THINGS AROUND - 8/5/05
Alright everyone. Things are progressing very nicely here with the mod. We've decided to change some small things around, and to avoid some possible confusion later on down the road... I'll anounce it here.

We've decided to change our prefix for all of our maps from "ts" to "su". With other mods using "ts" as a map prefix, things have a potential to get rather confusing. Thus the reason for us to change it. The first map to recieve the prefix, SU_Streets, is Rusty-Nail's latest creation. It's far completion, but if you wish to check it out anyway... there are, I believe 4 images in the forums under Mod Discussion for you to check out. I think some of you will like them a lot. The images posted are a couple days old, so I'll of course be updating them at a later point.

So how's the infected player model you ask? Well, at the moment all that is needed until it's completion is for it to be tweaked. Some small fixes to the shoes, pants, and hair and it's fried gold. Once those have been fixed up, I'll be posting a proper render for the news and media page. But again, if you just can't wait, a preview render has also been posted along with screens of Rusty's upcoming map.

So stick around, it's getting closer and closer. Once we get that player model done, the coding goes in the game.

WHERE WE ARE - 7/27/05
Sorry for not gettting this up sooner. I've been testing some of the features in the mod itself. I've been talking to our coder (RedG3), and the client and server binaries are almost complete. We are just waiting on the models to be completed so we can place them into the game and begin testing. Right now, Lt.Hinkle is working on the first player model for the mod, which is the infected character from our first peice of infected concept. It can be viewed by clicking here.

Once that is completed, we'll be placing that in-game and making sure that it works A-ok for the infected. After that, we'll be modelling a survivor model. Of the survivor concepts I have, I don't think I'll choose to model any of them. The preist is an interesting idea, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for for the first survivor.

The Colt .45 model will be also altered a small tad. Right now, we're using the default military 1911 style Colt. We'll be changing it to a more modified/customized version of the 1911. That should be a nice little treat for you all once we can get the done. But, I do know what you're thinking... "Where the hell's the player model media!?". Well, I'll throw a preview up here solely for that purpose:

As I did say above, we still aren't sure on what the survivor model will look like. I haven't requested any concepts yet, as I'm still thinking about what I'd like it to look like. We're more than willing to take suggestions on what you think would look good. The forums would be a great place to drop by and leave your oppinion if you wish to do so.

More to come, sit tight.

CONCEPT ART! - 7/18/05
As you recall, on the 11th of July I said that the concept art would be finished and posted on the site... well, Aaron Panagos, our fantastic concept artist has indeed sent me his latest creations. All of the concept art we have so far has been posted in the media section, and a few are posted below:

There are two more peices of Survivor concept on the media page for anyone that wants to check the rest out. If you are already a true fan of Aaron's work, you're more than welcome to check his website out here.

That's all for now, stay tuned... in the next couple of days I'll be posting another short update on where exactly the mod is at; and what stages we are in.

SITE FACELIFT - 7/11/05
As you may have noticed, the site has gone through some template upgrades, and some other small visual changes. The final result of the update, is a good one to some, and a bad to others. This is why, I'm posting this today...

I'm having some trouble myself deciding on if the new look should stay or not. As we are trying to maintain the feeling of a zombie modification here on the site... and a "grunge" look is far from what we have at the moment. So if you'd be so kind as to place you vote in this poll, it would be extremely helpfull. I'll be leaving the poll going for a week.. and depending on the results, I'll be either leaving it, or changing it.

As for that concept art... it's actually finished, but I'll be holding it for the next update. That way I can post some other media along with the concept stuff. So stick in there, it'll be here soon enough!

Thanks again!

MEDIA! MEDIA! MEDIA! - 7/7/05
Three new members have made their way onto the developer team... Calypso - modeller, ReSGame - mapper, and Panagos - concept artist. I hope they all enjoy their little stay with the mod and can help take it only highter in it's journey through development. Now with all these new members joining and beginning work, a lot of media has been produced... as you know there wasn't much to show off in the last update, but I think this little surge of media eye-candy should make up for the lack of media in the last update.

Without delay, I give you Hinkle's L85 A2, machete, Calypso's shovel, molotov cocktail, and a map preview from Rusty-Nail:

More to come over the next few days. I should be getting in some concept art any time now, as it's being colored as we speak... so stay tuned. In the mean time pop by the forums and drop us a line!

...and before I sign off, I just want to give my condolences to those that were affected in this morning's terrorist attack in London. Stand strong, you have our prayers.

MAP MEDIA - 7/3/05
Ok, sorry about not getting this news post up yesterday, things were rather busy and I found myself buried with other issues. But, I'm here now and I have some things to show off to you all... First off, I'd like to welcome ReSGame, to the developer team. He's currently working on a map for the mod, and media of the map will be shown here today. Now as for The Fox, he's been testing some lighting effects for a new map, that currently has no name... but it's location is in a shopping mall. It is a bit dark, but keep in mind this will not reflect the final map itself. So here you are:

(These maps are still WIPs)

I do have some renders of the L85 with me now, but it's not quite ready to show off. I should have some new ones by the next update, so please bear with me on this one.

BACK TO THE MAPS - 6/27/05
Sorry about that small lapse in news posts. The last week has been rather chaotic... and to be honest we didn't have anything to show off at the time. But back on track, Rusty-Nail, and The Fox are both working on getting some new maps completed. Headshot is currently working on the Walther P99, and Lt.Hinkle has chosen to take on the challenge of an H&K G36C, and an L85A2. I will be posting media of these as soon as I can get a more completed render of both of the models.

As for the maps, I should get some early screenshots within the next couple days, but I can't promise anything will be posted. But I will consider it on how complete the map is at the time, and if screenshots can be taken.

...and if you haven't been around the forums lately, Hubi over at HLGamer.com has written a review on the mod and will be e-mailing it to me shortly. I will of course be posting it for anyone that wants to take the time and read it.

Other than that, not much is going on... and we're still recruiting to let you all know!

GLOCK 18 COMPLETED - 6/12/05
The Glock 18 is approaching it's completion as we speak. I went and retrieved some updated renders from Headshot to share with you all... and I must say, it looks great. Hopefully others can say the same:

I also need to mention that I cannot stress enough on how much we'll be needing a skinner very soon. As these models get finished, I'd like to see some more progress completed on them. So if you can do some skinning, please send me an e-mail. We can use the help!

WINCHESTER COMPLETED - 6/9/05
In our last news post, I showed you all the current status of the Winchester, and well... Hinkle has just sent over the latest renditions for your viewing pleasure:

Headshot is also working on finishing up the Glock 18, a few more renders were sent to me a couple of days ago, I'll be posting some later on in the week.

I'd also like to thank Half-Life Fallout for posting a little "blurb" if you will about our mod and some of the current things going on, thanks a lot guys.

WEAPONS, AS PROMISED - 6/5/05
Welcome back once again everyone. As promised, I've got some new weapon media to show off. These are very early WIPs but in the next media update, I'll have completed renders to show off... but anyway, the main attraction:

Expect to see some new additions to the police car next week also. It's coming along very nicely. Lt.Hinkle's just finishing up some small bugs and whatnot on it, but it'll be here soon. In the meantime, why don't you hop into our IRC channel and have a chat?

So stay tuned, I'll make sure to get that media up as soon as possible, small changes have also taken place on the forums, users will now have to find alternate hosts for their avatars, as they will no longer be able to upload them to our FTP. If you are a member of the developer team, you may talk to me regarding the subject if you wish, your avatars have already been prehosted and your profiles have been updated. Thank you.

MAJOR UPDATES - 5/30/05
Well, as you can see, we have removed the old site and replaced it with the new one. There are a lot of things going on, so let's get started:

I went ahead and removed a lot of the previous news posts, as they were old, uneeded, and they were cluttering the page. Not to mension affecting loading times. So consider them gone. I hope you are all enjoying the new frontpage, as I already am. The logo was created by myself this weekend, and it'll be on the newest media that we'll be releasing very soon. I hope all of the things regarding the site will help in acheiving a stronger feeling of what our mod's about.

I'd like to welcome a new member to the mod team. He'd prefer to go by the name Headshot and he'll be doing some more weapon modelling, I've seen some of his previous work, and I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll be doing in the future, and I hope he likes it here with the rest of the team. When it comes to Lt.Hinkle, is also currently working on getting the Winchester rifle done, I will do my best to get some WIP shots ASAP. But with great payoffs, comes great work.

I'm also very happy to announce, we've successfully anchored a new IRC channel, and logically.. it's called #TheSurvivors. So boot up mIRC and come chat with the dev. team.

#TheSurvivors on QuakeNet! - Start chatting now!

You can get the latest version of mIRC (6.16) here.
